Bipolar depression can be very intense, making it difficult to function. It may also make it hard to take care of your activities of daily living. Things as simple as taking a shower or brushing your teeth can feel like monumental tasks. If you are experiencing the following symptoms I urge you to contact a psychiatrist and therapist.
The warning signs of depression that I experience:
Crying frequently throughout the day.
Getting too much sleep. For me, this means getting 12 to 14 hours of sleep in a 24-hour period.
Lack of motivation.
Irritability
Feelings of hopelessness.
Decreased sense of self-worth.
Not being able to get out of bed.
Decision-making becomes overwhelming, even little decisions like what to eat for dinner.
Becoming obsessed with feelings of loss, personal failure, guilt, or helplessness.
Negative thinking may lead to thoughts of suicide.
If these symptoms occur every day for at least two weeks, contact a doctor. If you are experiencing suicidal ideation contact a doctor immediately.
Take good care,
Christine
